The Original Viral Marketing

This morning my younger daughter and I were visiting the local 7-Eleven, and Jessie pointed at the clock and laughed.

7:11 AM

It occurred to me, just then, that this company gets free advertising twice a day, everywhere, on clocks all over the world.

I read several years ago that the post offices in some locations had clocks that counted down the remaining time until the end of 1999, and it had a counter that was clicking backwards like a bomb timer.  The PO had to take them down because they were causing “undue distress to customers who were concerned about the Y2K issue.”
